Louis M. Rorick was born on 11 November 1853 in Franklin, Sussex, New Jersey.1 He and Jennie M. Susie E. Rorick (his sister) is the daughter of John Rorick and Mary Chrisman Wiintermute Rorick. She died of consumption.

Notes from his obituary (Morenci, MI):
His father, John Rorick, was a brother of our aged townsman, William Rorick, and the other elder Roricks of this vicinity whom the latter now survives. Both of Lewis's parents died in middle life, only nine months apart, leaving him an orphan a the early age of five years. He was then brought from his birthplace to Michigan and placed under the guardianship of his late uncle, John Loman, at that time a Medina farmer and subsequently a citizen of this town. With his uncle, Lewis lived until he grew to man's estate, and received the benefits of country and village schools. He began his active business career in the way of stock buying and shipping, and that practically was the occupation which he followed until incapacitated by sickness. For about a year he was partner of the late John Capp in a meat market here, and in June, 1885, he bought S. M. McFarlane's market, of which he continued sole proprietor until recently, when by reason of his failing health he sold it to his cousin, Will Rorick. Last year with his brother-in-law, W.W. Crabbs, he built the splendid new block on Main St. that stands a monument to his enterprise, and also became a partner of Mr. Crabbs in the dry goods trade...
The pallbearers were all Rorick cousins of deceased -- Hon. John C. Rorick of Wauseon, Dr. E. H. and Leroy of Fayette, Cosper, Mark and Jacob of Seneca.
