Biography

Edward Sharpe (E.s.) Snover was born on 5 April 1813 in Knowlton Township, Warren, New Jersey.2,3 He and Ann Albertson Cooke were married on 10 June 1841 in Hope, Hardwick, Warren, New Jersey.4,5 He died on 9 September 1885, at age 72, in Romeo, Macomb, Michigan.4,6,3 He was buried in Romeo Cemetery, Romeo, Macomb, Michigan.4,3
Edward Sharpe (E.s.) Snover was a Blacksmith.3 Edward was a blacksmith in Romeo, Michigan by 1838, was the village president, the first banker, school trustee, part owner of the first organized bank, and very prominent in the communty. He came to Michigan in 1837, first settling in Oakland County. Edward's wagon shop in Romeo prospered so in 1849 he built a large home on W. St. Clair Street. It remained in the Snover family until about 1900. Edward died from rheumatism and pneumonia. Edward's inventory in 1885 totaled more than $185, 000. Much of his money was made from investing in farm morgages, of which he held a multitude from 6 Michigan counties at the time of his death. He was one of the orginal purchasers of land in section 21 of Burnside Township, Lapeer, Michigan.
