2 "UNCLE DAN" FERGUSON LAID TO REST SUNDAY
Daniel Ferguson, one of the oldest and most respected residents of Yale, St. Clair County, passed away at his home here at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, October 29th, 1931. He had been in poor health for some time. During his early residence here, Mr. Ferguson was engaged in the ice and a dairy business,which he carried on for many years.
He was born on a farm near Woodstock, Ontario, April 13, 1843, and came with his parents to Kenokee Twp.,when he was nine years of age. They afterward moved to Berville. On October 28, 1886, he was married to Mandana C. Snover and they made their home in Berville for five years, afterward moving to Yale, where he lived for the past forty years. Mrs Ferguson preceded him in death eleven years ago, and Mr Ferguson had since made his home with his nephew Floyd Ferguson. He had no children. He was a member of Brockway Lodge F. & A. M. No. 316, and Yale Chapter O.E.S. No. 64.
Deceased is survived by several nieces and nephews, the following whom attended the funeral: Mr. & Mrs. Roy Richards, Mr. and Mrs. Will Ferguson and Mr. and Mrs. Dee Ferguson of Flint; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Ferguson and sons Ralph and Alfred Ferguson, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Lamphere, of Capac,: Mr. and Mrs. Adeel Ferguson, of Romeo; Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Ferguson of Detroit; Mr. and Mrs. Lawton Sperry and Jimmie Jones of Berville; and Mr. and Mrs. Bert Tibbits, of Richmond.
Other out-of-town friends and relatives, who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Vern Graham, Albert and Eddie Tosch and Mrs. Augusta Stroup, of Capac; Mr. and Mrs. Arra Prout and Mr and Mrs. Oscar Hyde of Detroit; Mrs. John Green of Memphis: Mrs. Mary Gofton, of Applegate; Mr. and Mrs. Don robinson, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cavanaugh, of Port Huron; Mr. and Mrs. C.S. Hibbard, of Imlay City; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Shoneman, of Allenton, and Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Jones,of Armada.
Funeral services were held from the home on Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, with interment in the Elmwood Cemetery. Rev. Thomas Hurd, pastor of the Presbyterian church, conducted the services. Miss Pearl Bright and Miss Harriet Felton sang, with Miss Elizabeth McColl accompanying them on the piano. He immigrated in 1858.
