Ronald P. Layton Sr., 61, of Mount Bethel, died Sunday, July 23, in his home. He was the husband of Alice E. (Lantz) Layton. They were married for 41 years last December.

He worked in the research and development department of M & M/Mars, Hackettstown, N.J., before retiring in 1993.

Born in Hackettstown, he was a son of the late Harold V. and Gladys (Lake) Layton.

He was an Air Force veteran.

He was a member of the Roseto Rod and Gun Club.

Survivors: Wife; sons, Ronald P. Jr. of Flicksville and Gregory of Wind Gap; daughter, Tammy Giarrizzo of East Stroudsburg; brothers, Orval Wilson in California and Francis Wilson of Hackettstown; five granddaughters.

She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Bondonna; son, Leslie Walker Jr.; brother, Robert Lantz; sisters, Alice Layton and Patsy Popson; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home, Sebring.

John J. Hummer, Sr., 75, of Palmer Twp. passed away Saturday December 26, 2009 surrounded by his loving family in St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill. Born: He was born on May 22, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY a son of the late Frank and Louise Cestaro Hummer. Personal: John was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie C. Hummer in 2008. He was an avid Mets and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. A major importance in his life was his family, including his grandchildren and great grandchildren and his beloved Chevy Impala. He was employed as an electrician for the former Ingersoll Rand Co. retiring in 1996 after 40 years of employment. John was a graduate of Phillipsburg High School class of 1953. He proudly served our country in the US Navy on the USS 1156 Terrebonne Parish during Peacetime. Memberships: John was a member of St. Jane Frances De Chantal Catholic Church in Palmer Twp. He also was a former member of the Steel Workers 5503 in Phillipsburg, NJ. Survivors: John is survived by his sons, John J. Hummer, Jr. of Phillipsburg, NJ and Kevin M. Hummer of Forks Twp.; his daughters, Teresa Rissmiller and husband William of Palmer Twp. and Carol A. HACKETTSTOWN -- Ruth A. Hamill of Hackettstown died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006, in Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Clares, Dover. She was 67.

Born Nov. 22, 1938 in Newton, she was a daughter of the late Frederic David and Grace Olive Gunn Lantz.

Ruth moved to Hackettstown in September this year from Florida, where she had lived since 2002. Prior to living in Florida, she had lived in Warren County from 1951 to 2002, and before that, in Sussex County from 1938 to 1951.

Ruth was employed for 21 years by the State of New Jersey, Department of Human Resources in the Personnel Department. Ruth was a graduate of Hackettstown High School, Class of 1957.

Survivors include two daughters, Christine Ference of Davenport, Fla., and Patricia Sterner, of Allentown; a brother, Robert Lantz, of Berlin, Md.; four sisters, Winifred Smith, of Sebring, Fla., Marjorie Hummer, of Easton, Alice Layton, of Bangor, and Patsy Popson, of Hackettstown; two grandchildren, Brian Scott Houston and Courtney Lynn Houston, of Warminster, Pa.; several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Four sisters, Carolyn Hawley, Shirley Lantz, Frances Shawger, and Doris Bird, and one brother, Frederic David Lantz, Jr., all died earlier.
