Elizabeth "Betty" Loder, 87, ofChelsea died May 13, 2006, at Chelsea Retirement Community. She was born May 16, 1918, in Owosso, the daughter of Loy B. and Vida (Winn) Hackett.
Mrs. Loder had lived in Chelsea since 1993, coming from Burton. She was a graduate of Eastern Michigan University, where she studied music. She taught school for 37 years in the Atherton School District.
Mrs. Loder was a former member of Atherton United Methodist Church, where she was choir director, and, upon her death, was a member of Chelsea First United Methodist Church.
In addition, Mrs. Loder was a member of the Michigan Education Association and the Flint Theater Organ Club.
On June 29, 1943, she married Harold Milton Loder, and he preceded her in death May 8, 1981.
Survivors include two sons, Keith (Diane) Loder of Niles and Wayne (Patricia) Loder of Milford; a sister-in-law, Virginia Hackett of Brooklyn; four grandchildren, David (Wendy) Loder, Wendy (Travis) Stevanson; Christopher and Kathryn Loder; four great-grandchildren, Emily, Caroline, Taylor and Paige; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Stephanie and Stephen Loder, and two brothers, Winn Hackett and Loy J. Hackett.
A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Friday at Chelsea Retirement Community. The Rev. Beth Foster will officiate. Burial will be at a later date at Tekonsha Cemetery in Tekonsha.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Chelsea Retirement Community or The Compassionate Friends.
Arrangements were by Cole Funeral Chapel in Chelsea.
