She was the wife of Hugh Hammerstone. Mrs. Hammerstone was born in Mt. Pleasant, N. J., a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Hillpot. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Phillipsburg. Surviving, besides her husband are a daughter, Mrs. Martha Hampton, Newark, N. J.; a brother Frank Hillpot, Pottstown, and a sister, Mrs. Hannah S. Henry, Pt. Pleasant. Hammerstone, 71 of Carpentersville, who died in Warren Hospital on Thursday, was held yesterday at the Doyle funeral home, Phillipsburg. The Rev. C. Wilfred Steffy, of Grace Lutheran Church, officiated and interment was in Upper Tinicum cemetery, Uhlerstown. Mrs. Hammerstone was the wife of Hugh Hammerstone. Pallbearers were Walter Lane, Felix Hammerstone, Leslie Bowlby and Russell Bowlby.

Hugh B. Hammerstone was a Pennsylvania Railroad Track Walker.2 The Easton Express - July 5, 1955 page 31. Hugh Hammerstone, 79, a retired employee of the Pennsylvania Railroad, died yesterday at 2 a.m. at his home in Carpentersville after a short illness. Mr. Hammerstone was a lifelong resident of the Carpentersville area. He had been employed by the railroad as a trackwalker and later as a gate tender in Riegelsville. He retired about 12 years ago. He was a member of St. Paul's (Peter's it was misprinted) Lutheran Church, Riegelsville. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Martha Hampton, at home, and a brother, Calvin, of Phillipsburg. There are also several nieces and nephews. His wife, the former Anna Hillpot, died before him. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Doyle Funeral Home, Phillipsburg. The Easton Express - July 8, 1955. Services for Hugh Hammerstone, of Carpentersville, were held yesterday afternoon at the Doyle Funeral Home, Phillipsburg. Mr. Hammerstone died Monday at his home. The Rev. Paul H. Gleichman, pastor of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Riegelsville, officiated. He was assisted by Lt. and Mrs Gordon H. Crawford, officers in charge of the Easton Salvation Army Corps, and Capt. David Samuelson, of Newark, N.J. Interment was in Upper Tinicum Cemetery. Pallbearers were Russell, Henry and Felix Hammerstone, Marvin Black, Chester Black and George Hans.

Hillpot and Hannah Fretz Strawn. Her husband died some years ago. She is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Lida Trump, Philadelphia, and Mrs. Flora K. Henry, Pt. Pleasant. There are five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The Rev. Dr. Thomas S. Goslin will officiate the services at Doylestown Presbyterian Church. Interment Newtown Cemetery.
