Mrs. Evelyn R. Amey Reese, 85, of Richlandtown Pike, Quakertown, died Thursday in her home. She was the widow of both George W. Reese and G. Wilmer Amey.

She owned and operated a number of retail businesses in the Quakertown area for many years, including the former Roselawn Gardens Florist, Route 309, Richland Township. She was presently operating an antique shop in her home.

Born in Springfield Township, Bucks County, she was a daughter of the late William and Alice (Haney) Eichlin.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Quakertown.

Survivors: Daughters, Gladys Tillger of Sellersville, Ruth, wife of Joseph Povenski of Quakertown R.5, and Alice Miller of Bayfield, Col.; son, George Amey of Sharon, Mercer County; brothers, Roy of Perkasie R.D., W. Ralph of Quakertown, 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

LEROY "ROY" EICHLIN

LEROY "ROY" EICHLIN of Richlandtown, previously of Bedminster Township died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003, in Phoebe Richland Health Care Center, Richlandtown. He was 92.

He was the husband of ANNA PAULINE (STREAPY) EICHLIN. They had been married for 68 years in March.

Born in Bursonville, Springfield Township, Bucks County, he was the son of the late WILLIAM and ALICE (HANEY) EICHLIN.

Roy helped on the family farm as a young boy, later becoming a self-employed car mechanic. He worked for Paul Moyer as a farm mechanic and for Kellers Farm Implements in Richlandtown. Roy had an apple orchard in Sellersville, where he made cider. He later moved to Bedminster Road in Perkasie, where he raised and sold daylilies and hostas.

He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Pipersville.

Roy had no children, but he loved to tease his numerous nieces and nephews, his great-nieces and nephews and his great-great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, WM. RALPH EICHLIN and his sister, EVELYN REESE.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, in Jeffrey A. Naugle Funeral Home, 20 N. Ambler St., Quakertown, where family and friends are invited to call from noon to 1. Interment will be held in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Prospectville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, 355 Dark Hollow Road, Pipersville, PA 18947 or to St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 3668 Ridge Road, Perkasie, PA 18944.

son of the late William and Alice
(Haney) Eichlin.
Mr. Wichlin was involved in farming
in Weisel, Bucks County, and operated a
farm at Solebury, Bucks County, for 17
years, where he was involved in government
research programs that involved
poultry from all over the world and terraced
structure land farming. Due to illness,
he had to give up farming in 1951.
He then went into roofing and siding,
working with Drake Roofing of
Doylestown, forming a partnership
known as Drake & Eichlin Roofing, and
eventually established his own business
known as Eichlin Roofing & Siding
Inc., Quakertown. He served as president
of his business until his retirement
at age 62, then serving as consultant to
the business until 1997.
He was a member of St. Isidore’s
Catholic Church, the church Holy Name
Society, Knights of Columbus Cardinal
Stritch Council #4649, where he held a
3rd degree, and the Knights of
Columbus Pope Pius XII Assembly 941
of Easton, where he held a 4th degree.
He served as usher for St. Isidore’s
Church for 45 years.
He is survived by one son, Paul Sr. of
Perkasie; four grandchildren, Patricia
Ann Dyson of Nazareth, Bernadette M.
Benetz of Center Valley, Kathleen A.
Patrick of Davenport, Fla., and
Gwendolyn T. Dougherty of Reading;
one brother, LeRoy Eichlin, three nieces
and a companion, Helen Egan; 15
grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by sister Evelyn
Amey.
