Kenneth S. Mich, Sr., 81, passed away June 15, 2003. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on July 22, 1921 to Henry Sylvester Mich and Sarah Meyers.

Kenneth was a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th degree, he was a WWII Army veteran, and a life member of VFW Post 9829 in Payson, AZ.

Kenneth is preceded in death by his sons David and Paul Francis. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Isabelle Anna Mich, children Ken Jr. (Donna), Mary Agnes Deuel (Chick), Maggie Julian, Therese Marple (Larry), Rosemary Hammond (John), Martin (Kim) Mich, John (Donna) Mich, Thomas (Dawn) Mich, 22 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and sister Jean Hourihan.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Raphaels Catholic Church, 5525 W. Acoma, Glendale, AZ on Thursday, June 19, 2003 at 10am. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Raphaels Catholic Church building fund. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Heritage Funeral Chapel, 6830 W. Thunderbird Rd., Peoria, AZ.

Mich, Isabelle Ann
Isabelle Ann Mich (Schaub), a resident of the Beatitudes Care Center, Phoenix, died peacefully Saturday morning, December 26, 2009. Born in LaGrange, Iowa on September 2, 1920, she was the seventh of ten children born to Frank and Mary (Fabritz) Schaub. She attended local schools and went on to the nursing program at Nazareth Hospital, Chicago completing a nursing degree from Loyola University. Isabelle joined the US Army Nurse Corps after graduation and was stationed in London, England during WWII. After marrying in 1945 and raising her large family Isabelle returned to nursing, working in Pennsylvania and Arizona (including at the Beatitudes Care Center) retiring at the age of 75. Isabelle was predeceased by her loving husband of 56 years, Kenneth S. Mich, Sr. in 2004, her daughter Mary Agnes Deuel, sons David Leo and Paul Francis, and grandson Richard Deuel. She is survived by sons Kenneth S. Mich, Jr. (Donna), Charleston, SC, Martin C. Mich ( Kim), Casa Grande, AZ, John J. Mich (Donna), Wickenberg, AZ, Thomas B. Mich (Dawn Marie), Peoria, AZ; daughters Margaret M. Julian (Charles), Brunswick, ME, Therese K. Marple (Larry), Phoenix, AZ, Rosemary E. Hammond (John) of Glendale, AZ. She also leaves behind sixteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Isabelle was an avid gardener, specializing in vegetables and was very proud of her roses. She was active in the VFW Post 6928, serving as a Chaplain. She was a parishioner of St. Joan of Arc Parish for many years before moving the Beatitudes Care Center three years ago. Public visitation will be held at Heritage Funeral Chapel, 6830 W. Thunderbird Rd., Peoria, on Saturday, January 2 from 9-10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the Katherine Drexel Chapel of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 3801 E. Greenway Rd. in Phoenix, Saturday, January 2 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 10045 W. Thomas Ave. Avondale. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VFW and The Beatitudes Care Center.

Bernard J. Hourihan Sr., 85, a retired employee of NCR Corp., died Sunday, Aug. 27, in his Elmhurst home. Born in Chicago, Mr. Hourihan was a salesman with NCR for 30 years. "He loved to fish, especially with his buddies when they went up to Canada to fish for walleyes," said his wife, Jean Mich Hourihan. Mr. Hourihan served in the Navy during World War II, assigned to an aviation squadron. Mr. Hourihan is also survived by two sons, Bernard Jr. and Michael; four daughters, Barbara Weesner, Kathleen Hosty, Patricia Kinnare and Eileen McCarthy; and seven grandchildren. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 8:30 until services at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Gibbons Funeral Home, 134 S. York St., Elmhurst, followed by mass at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 134 Arthur St., Elmhurst.
