Geraldine Ball VALDESE Mrs. Geraldine Wheeler Ball, 71, of Morganton, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at her residence, following a period of declining health. Geraldine was born on Nov. 13, 1939 in Washington, N.J. to the late Charles Wheeler and Anna Johne Pintavalle. She was retired from the Doblin Plant, where she worked as a weaver for many years and she was a devoted member of Calvary Assembly of God in Morganton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Garvin Ball and one brother, Charles Wheeler and one sister, Charlene Rivera. Survivors include her three sons, Eddie Ball and wife Marla of Nashville, Tenn., Jim Ball and wife Sharon of Morganton and Michael Ball of Morganton, one daughter, Geraldine Maldonado of Morganton, two sisters, Anna Paci of Clifton, N.J. and Rosanne Lombardi and husband Frank of Morganton. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Jimbo Ball, Jared Ball and wife Erin, Christopher Smith and Kayla Smith, one great-granddaughter, Alexis, sister in-law, Bobbie Freeman and husband John of Morganton, sister in-law Bernadette Wheeler of Florida, brother in-law Phil Rivera of New Jersey and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Calvary Assembly of God in Morganton, with Rev. Mike Whisnant and Rev. Dwayne Buchanan officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on on Friday, May 6, 2011 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese. Mr. James Garvin Ball, 69, of Frank Whisnant Rd., Morganton, N.C., passed away unexpectedly on Monday September 1, 2008 in Clifton, N.J.

James was born on November 7, 1938 in Del Rio, TN to the late James Garfield Ball and Abbie Jones Ball.

He was a member of Calvary Assembly of God and was retired as a warper operator for Doblin Manufacturing Company.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Wheeler Ball, of the home; mother in law, Anna Pintavalle of the home; three sons, Edward Ball and wife Marla of Dickson, TN, James Calvin Ball and wife Sharon of Morganton and Michael Joseph Ball of Morganton; one daughter, Geraldine Ball Maldonado of Lenoir; one sister, Bobbie Freeman and husband John of Morganton; one brother, Glenn Ball of Ohio; four grandchildren, Jimbo Ball, Jared Ball, Christopher Smith, and Kayla Smith; also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and other loved ones..

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 6, 2008 at Calvary Assembly of God with the Rev. Mike Whisnant officiating.

Interment will follow at Calvary Assembly of God Cemetery in Morganton.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Heritage Funeral Service & Crematory in Valdese, where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the funeral hour.

Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Assembly of God Building Fund, 3747 Pea Ridge Rd. Morganton, N.C. 28655.
