1 WEST WINDSOR - Oliver O. Hillpot, 78, of West Windsor, died Friday, April 17, 2009, at Compassionate Care at St. Francis Hospital.
Born in Princeton on Aug. 12, 1930, he graduated from Princeton High School with the class of 1948. He was employed at Lyon’s Market, Princeton until serving his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. Oliver was employed by the government at Fort Dix and McGuire Air Force Base until his retirement in 1985. Oliver and his wife were owners and operators of the B & O Catering business. He was very active in the West Windsor Volunteer Fire Company. Oliver was a member of the 7 Buck Gun Club, the First Presbyterian Church of Dutch Neck, the Scottish Rite Valley of Central Jersey where he held the MSA award, Crescent Shrine AAONMS, Princeton Masonic Lodge No. 38 where he was awarded the White Apron award and numerous awards for his unselfish service to others. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing, and his true passion was for cooking. He enjoyed getting together with friends and family.
Oliver was the son of the late Oscar and Minnie Hillpot, and brother of the late Edward, Calvin and his wife Ann, and Anna. He is survived by his sister Gloria and her husband Nick. Oliver was married to Bette for 53 years and they are the loving parents of Dr. Robin Lyn Schwing and Todd Oliver Hillpot. Robin is married to Thomas Schwing and they are the parents of Thomas Oliver and Elizabeth. Todd is married to Lynda and they are the parents of Michelle. Oliver was a very loving husband, father and grandfather.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday (April 21) at the Wilson-Apple Funeral Home, 2560 Pennington Road, Pennington, with the Rev. Wendi Werner, associate pastor of the Dutch Neck Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Park, Wrightstown. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday (April 20) at the funeral home, with Masonic services at 7:30 p.m.
