3,4 John E. Freyman, 81, of Beaver Street, Packerton, Mahoning Twp, died Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at Lehigh Valley Hospice, Allentown. He was the husband of Irene D.(Cebrosky) Freyman since September 27, 1952. Born in Packerton, he was a son of the late Harry H. and Laura W. (Lear) Freyman. John worked as fabrication supervisor for the Utilities Service CO., Allentown, over 30 years, retiring in 1990. Previously, he worked for Lehigh Structural Steel Co., Allentown. John had attended Zion Lutheran Church, Packerton. He was a US Army Veteran of Korea, achieved rank of Cpl, awarded Order of the Purple Heart. John was a member of VFW Post #256, Lehighton. A 32nd Degree Mason, he was a 60 year member of Lehighton Lodge #621, C. & A.M. and the Lodge Council Chapter Consistory, Valley of Allentown. John was a member of Beaver Run Rod & Gun Club, and the Packerton Old Timers.
Survivors: Wife; sons, John R. of Packerton, Bruce R. and wife Cynthia of Coaldale; grandson, Bruce J. and wife Tami of Coaldale; sisters, Catherine Horn of Mebourne, AR, Gilda Bennett of Union Hill, Lehighton.

Gilda Estella Freyman was a Baker. Mrs. Gilda Freyman Bennett, 87, of Allen Street, Lehighton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2020, in her home. She was the widow of John Koons Bennett.
She was emp-loyed as a baker and cook for many years at Shull-David Elementary School, Lehighton.
She was a daughter of the late Harry and Laura Freyman of Packerton.
She was a member of the Gnaden Huetten Chapter No. 203, Order of the Eastern Star, Lehighton, and Zion Lutheran Church, Packerton.
Gilda was full of life and enjoyed many activities, such as bowling, spending time with her many friends, cooking for her family, and driving her car.
Throughout her life, she enjoyed taking care of her many pets, especially all of the family dogs, always showing them love and affection.
She was a kind, loving mother and a caring, compassionate friend to many. She was a gentle soul who will be truly missed by all those who were blessed to have had her in their lives.
Surviving are two daughters, Susan Zern and Melodie Eckhart; and 11 grandchildren, John H. Bennett, Jennifer Miller, Cierra Bennett, Zach Zern, Kimberly Zern Evelti, Kali Andrew, Daniel Zern, Kirsten Zern, Matthew Zern, Tony Eckhart and his wife, Torey, and Trans Eckhart. She was also blessed with 14 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, John F. and Robert R.; and a son-in-law, Dino Eckhart.
Service: The family will have a celebration of Gilda's life in the spring. Arrangements by Mayes-Melber Funeral Home, Weissport. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name may be made to the Carbon Co. Animal Shelter.

1 John K. Bennett 85, of Lehighton formerly of 312 S. Ninth Street, Lehighton, passed away February 2 in Blue Mountain Health System Gnaden Huetten Campus. He was the husband of Gilda F. Freyman Bennett. They were married for 57 years June 23, 2008. Born in Lehighton, he was a son of the late Frank and Kathryn Koons Bennett. He served his country during World War II with the Army with the 871st Tank Destroyer Battalion during the Philippine Islands liberation in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of operations attaining the rank of Tech 5. Prior to retiring, he was employed by Fowler-Williams as a truck driver and was a member of the Teamsters Union. He was a member of Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. He held memberships in Lehighton Masonic Lodge 621, Lehighton American Legion Post 314, Lehighton Amvets and Lehighton V.F.W. Survivors: Wife; daughters, Susan Zern and Melodie, wife of Dino Eckhart; sisters, Catherine Bunnevich, Mildred Beers, Betty, wife of Dr. John Johnson, all of Lehighton, Frances Rehrig of Weissport; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews. He was preceded in death by two sons, Robert R. and John F., and two brothers, Robert and Richard. Services: celebration of life, in his honor will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 7 in Bethany E.C. Church, North Street, Lehighton, with the Rev. Douglas D. Evans officiating. Masonic services, 10 a.m. Visitation 10-11 a.m. on Saturday in the church. Military honors under the direction of the Lehighton U.V.O. will follow the services. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. The Ovsak Funeral Home, Lehighton, is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences are accepted at www.ovsakfh.com.
