3 William O. "Skip" Loy, Jr., 72, of Whitehall and formerly of Allentown, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2009 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg Campus, Bethlehem. Born: February 14, 1937 in Allentown, he was a son of the late William O. Sr. and Arlene Swope Loy. Personal: His beloved wife of 46 years, the former Shirley Mackes, passed away in 2002. He was last employed by Pilot Freight as a delivery truck driver, before that he worked as a terminal manager and dispatcher for FXI, worked for Dual Temp Fuels as a dispatcher and was a terminal manager and dispatcher for over 10 years for the former Modern Transfer of Allentown. Skip enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, going to his cabin in Promised Land, PA and going fishing. He was an active social member in many of the local sportsmen clubs in the Lehigh Valley area. He was a 1955 graduate of William Allen High School. Survivors: Two daughters, Deborah L. Loy-Abbott and her husband Robert, and Cynthia Malast and her husband Richard, all of Whitehall; three sons, Richard and his wife Jane Loy of Slatington, Michael Loy and his wife Rita Turissini of Allentown, and William O. III and his wife Michele of Coplay; eight grandchildren, Christy Fiore Gariepy and her husband Jack of Scranton, Theresa Fiore Celaschi and her husband Steve of Myerstown, Michael Loy, Jr. and his wife Franca of Bethlehem, Melinda Loy of New Mexico, Matthew Loy of Allentown, Cheyanne Malast of Whitehall and William and Austin Loy of Coplay; and two great-grandsons, Jackie and Evan Gariepy of Scranton. A grandson, Jesse Malast, and a sister, Nancy Snyder, died earlier. Services: A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, in the Hauke Funeral Home, 327 Chestnut Street, Coplay with Father Clif Bishop officiating. Call 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. to time of the services Wednesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Ebenezer Union Cemetery, New Tripoli, PA. The Fiore Funeral Home, 230 Market Street, Bangor, is handling the arrangements.
