Richard L. Buffington, 80, of Downingtown, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2010.
Born on July 30, 1930, in Elizabethville, he was the son of the late Lewis C. and the late Hannah Uhler Buffington.
He was a graduate of Elizabethville High School in 1948 and Dartmouth College in 1954.
Mr. Buffington was a member of the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1957 as a 1st lieutenant in Air Development and Command, Flight and All Weather Testing.
He worked for Alcoa, Uniform Tubes and Accumetrics, a company he founded in 1976 and sold in 1982.
Mr. Buffington worked in the mortgage and finance industry until retiring in 1993.
Richard enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Richard is survived by his sons, Daniel and fiancee Shelly of Morgantown and William and wife Margaret of Downingtown; grandchildren, Kristin and Kevin of Downingtown; and sister, Ardith Buffington of Camp Hill.
He was preceded in death by his son, Christopher; and his brothers, Lewis, David and Timothy.
Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 6, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 730 S. New St., West Chester, PA 19380.
