Lena Agnes Carothers was born on 13 July 1879 in Laclede, Linn, Missouri.^1,2,3 She and Charles Byron (Wintermute) Bowlby were married on 1 January 1900 in Laclede, Linn, Missouri.⁴ She died on 6 March 1945, at age 65, in Lincoln, Lancaster, Nebraska.¹ She was buried in Laclede Cemetery, Laclede, Linn, Missouri.⁵

Lena Agnes Bowlby, 65, died Tuesday night at the home of her daughter Mrs. Emma Nesmith. Surviving also are her husvband Charles and one, Reeder, both of Lincoln. Another daughter, Mrs. Lois McMir, living at Pryor, Oklahoma. (Two brothers) H.C. Carothers of Laclade, MO., and W.W. Carothers, Whittier, Calif.. (Two sisters) Mrs. Clifford McVey, Los Animas, Colorado and Mrs. Florence Brown, of Washington, D.C. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren.

Emma Frances Bowlby was born on 14 October 1912 in Carrollton, Carroll, Missouri.^4,2,3 She died on 21 January 1963, at age 50, in Lincoln, Lancaster, Nebraska.⁴ She was buried in Lincoln Memorial Park, Lincoln, Lancaster, Nebraska.⁵

Her survivors include her son, James M. at home; daughters, Mrs. Willa J. Kuntz of Lincoln and Miss Barbara Jeanne at home; a brother, Reeder Bowlby of Lincoln; a sister, Mrs. Lois McNair of Pryor, Okla.; and four grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Emma; son, James M. at home; daughters, Barbara Jean at home, and Mrs. Albert Kentz of Lincoln; mother, Mrs. Jennie Roberts of Lincoln; sister, Mrs. Frances McLaughlin of Lincoln; and brothers, Duane of Lincoln and Guy of San Francisco.
