JOHN W., age 91, of Glen Mills, PA, formerly of Phila., PA, died Sunday, April 19, 2015, at home. John was born in Phila., PA and was a graduate of West Catholic High School.

John was a retired Lieutenant for the Philadelphia Fire Dept., for 27 years, until his retirement, in 1974. He was a member of the Local 22 IAFF, Philadelphia Fire Fighters. Mr. Zwijsen was a parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Glen Mills, PA. John enjoyed woodworking, but most of all, he cherished spending time with his grand-children and great-grand-children.

He was the son of the late Henry and Jacoba (Boekhooven) Zwijsen; brother of the late Maria Steinmetz.

He is survived by his wife of 67 yrs. Elizabeth Dreyer Zwijsen; 2 Daughters Elizabeth Z. Brown (Jerry) and Carol Weyhmuller (Paul); Grandchildren Lauren Stencler, Adrianne Marozzi, Elizabeth Marozzi, John Philip Marozzi, Ray Bordier, Jessica Weyhmuller and Sarah Weyhmuller; Great-Grand-children Briana Bordier, Joseph Marozzi, Maria Stencler and Jacob Stencler.

Funeral Mass Friday at 10:30 A.M. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 430 Valleybrook Rd, Glen Mills, PA 19342. Visitation Friday from 9:15-10:15 A.M. at the church. Interment: St. Thomas the Apostle Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to, St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 430 Valleybrook Rd, Glen Mills, PA 19342.
