2 Charles Theodore "Ted" Webster of Doylestown passed away on Sept. 24, 2011, at the Doylestown Hospital. He was 78. He was the husband of Mary S. Webster.
He was born in Willow Grove. Mr. Webster was the son of the late Theodore and Helen Webster.
Mr. Webster graduated from Upper Moreland High School, Class of 1951, where he was a starting lineman on the championship teams of 1949 and 1950. He attended Temple University and took courses at both Penn State and University of Pittsburgh.
Mr. Webster served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, serving with both the 28th Division and later the 9th Division. While with the 28th Division in Germany, Mr. Webster graduated with honors from 28th Division N.C.O. Academy, where he later became an instructor.
Mr. Webster retired from State Farm Insurance Co. after more than 25 years in the claims department.
He was a member of many organizations, among them, Doylestown Lodge 245, Free ad Accepted Masons, Lehigh Valley Consistory - Scottish Rite of Allentown, Bucks-Mont John Deere 2 cyl Tractor Club, Gun Owners of America and the Second Amendment foundation. He also held life memberships in the Paletown Rod and Gun Club and the national Rifle Association.
Mr. Webster was a gun collector, hunter and target shooter and enjoyed the time outdoors, especially at his farm in Bradford County, Pa.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Webster is survived by a son, Joseph Webster of East Greenville, Pa., and a daughter, Barbara Jean Kraft of Lake Oswego, Oreg. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Chrissy, Eric, Jaclyn, Heather and Kaley, and five great-grandchildren.
Mr. Webster's funeral service will be at 12 noon on Friday, Sept. 30, 2011 at the Shelly Funeral Home, 1460 Easton Road, Warrington, where the family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow in Whitemarsh Memorial Park.
