Virginia M. Reeves 1930 - 2017

Virginia M. Reeves, 87, of Groton, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2017 a t the Groton Community Health Care Center. Mrs. Reeves was born Februar y 13, 1930 in Ledyard, a daughter of the late Leslie and Muriel (Barnes ) Mason.

Virginia was retired from Cornell University, where she worked at the Statler Hotel and later at Warren Hall. She was a member of the New Testament Church of Peruville. Virginia loved her family and she cherished t he time spent with her children and especially the time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her four children: Sylvia Moravia (Richard) and Wayne Reeves of Groton, Dahrl Reeves of Freeville, and Gail Howser (Mark) Groton; eight grandchildren: Stacey and Tommy Scheffler, Keith and Patrick Reeves, Lee Reeves, Angie Randall, and Kyle and Adam Howser; four great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Gerald H. Reeves in 1989, by her sister, Rosamond Mason , and by her brother, Reginald Mason.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 PM Sunday (Oct. 22), at the Shurtleff Funeral Home, 103 Lincoln Ave., Groton, with the Rev. John Iler officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, from 1 to 2: 30 PM prior to services. Interment will be in East Venice Cemetery.
