R. Lee Witwer, 72, of Mountain View Estates, Avis, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2013 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He was born on May 9, 1941 in West Rockhill Township, the son of the late Arthur and Grace Yeakel Witwer. Lee was also preceded in death by his step-mother, Ruth Witwer. In 1959 Lee graduated from Souderton High School. Upon graduating he joined the United States Marines, serving from 1959 until 1963. Lee and the love of his life, Shirley A. Klim, were united in marriage on March 29, 1977 in Danville. Lee worked for the United States Postal Service until retiring in 1996. He was a member of the Souderton American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, his daily lunch trips to McDonald's, and spending time with his friends. He loved his dog, Smokey, whom often accompanied him to McDonald's. In addition to his wife, Lee is survived by two sons, Rob (Mary) of Perkasie and Brad (Stacy) of Pennsburg; a step-daughter, Rhonda (Paul) Balchun of Renovo; a sister, Judy (Jack) Dunn of Schwenksville; a step-brother, Bill Overholt; a step-sister, Norma (Tim) Landis; a mother-in-law, Marie Klim; a sister-in-law, Rosemarie (Ray) Gorham; a nephew, Gary (Alaina) Dunn; and a niece, Gina (Brett) Coyle. He is also survived by ten grandchildren. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bucktail Detachment No. 856 Marine Corps League, P.O. Box 175, Renovo, PA 17764. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington."
