Biography

James Yerk (Snit) Snyder was born on 19 February 1935 in Pennsylvania. He died on 22 December 2016, at age 81, in Pennsburg, Montgomery, Pennsylvania. He was buried on 28 December 2016 in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Perkasie, Bucks, Pennsylvania.1
James Yerk (Snit) Snyder was a Pittman Manufacturing Supervisor.1 James Y. “Snit” Snyder, of Hilltown Twp., PA, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2016, at Pennsburg Manor, Pennsburg, PA. He was 81.

He was the husband of Joan M. (Fusco) Snyder. The couple had celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary on April 7, 2016.

Born in Perkasie, PA, he was the son of the late Paul and Edna (Yerk) Snyder. He was a 1953 graduate of Sell-Perk High School, Perkasie.

Mr. Snyder was employed as a manufacturing supervisor for Pittman, Harleysville, PA, for 20 years until retiring in 2006. Previously, he owned and operated the Perkasie Dry Cleaners, Perkasie, for 8 years during the late 1970’s into the 1980’s. Earlier, he worked for his family in their business, the Snyder Cigar Factory, Perkasie, from the late 1950’s until the early 1970’s.

He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Perkasie, where he served as the Church Custodian for many years. He also served on the Church Council, taught Sunday School for over 10 years, and played on the Church Fastpitch Softball Team.

Surviving with his wife are four children, Barry S. Snyder, of Hilltown, Terry A. Snyder, of Hilltown, PA, Pamela J. Meler and her husband Cary, of Perkasie, and Jennifer L. Gross and her husband David, of Spinnerstown, PA; four grandchildren, Clairissa Meler, Emily Meler, Cynthia Meler and Sarah Gross. He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Snyder, Jr.

His Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 19 South Fifth Street, Perkasie, where family and friends may call from 9:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Perkasie.
