1 Laurence Lyle Alchin, age 90, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 12, 2019. Larry was born on March 28, 1929, to Tracy and Carlie Alchin in Webberville, MI. He married his loving wife Ann on November 8, 1952.
After serving two years in the U.S. Army, Larry and Ann built their home and raised their three children in Williamston, MI. Before moving to Haslett in the mid-80's, they spent many years camping with their family in upper Michigan, working in their beautiful garden and enjoying everything outdoors. An avid fisherman, hunter and golfer, Larry retired from the Engineering Department at Michigan State University in 1988 as an Estimator. He then continued to enjoy "catching his limit”; “striving to come in under par”; hunting for those ever-elusive morels; and watching the Spartans win, especially in basketball. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren both in MI and in NC. Larry was an excellent example of all that a husband, father, and grandfather should be. He never met a stranger--he was a friend to all and loved to sit and chat with a cup of coffee and any kind of dessert.
He will be greatly missed and his legacy not easily forgotten.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, three sisters, and his son, Bryan Alchin.
Larry is survived by his wife Ann (Simons) of 67 years; his children; his grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. And, last but not least, his beloved kitty cat Fluffy.
