3 Edward A. Spangler passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 25, 2004, at his home, in Monroe. He was born on Aug 1, 1933, the eldest of eight children of Leander and Marion (Krebs) Spangler, in Madison. He was a 1951 graduate of Stoughton High School. Upon his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, Ed began work as a mechanic at Hanson's Super Service, Stoughton, then later worked for many years as service manager of the Stoughton City Council and was an active member of St. Ann's Catholic Church until he moved to Monroe. In 1975, he purchased the A&W Drive-In Restaurant in Monroe, and later, purchased the H&R Block in Monroe. He was actively involved in the daily operation of these family businesses until the time of his death. Ed is survived by his children, Deb Spangler (Jack Halverson), of Stoughton, Scott Spangler (Lynn) of Stoughton, Todd Spangler (Donna) of Cazenovia, N.Y., Lonn Spangler, of Monroe, and Robb Spangler (Grace) of Albany; as well as the children's mother, Beverly Spangler of Stoughton. He is also survived by many grandhildren and great-grandchilden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, Dec. 30, at 11 a.m. at St. Ann's CatholicChurch, 323 N. Van Buren St., Stoughton. Interment will be in St. Ann's Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, from 4 p.m. until the prayer service at 7 p.m. at Olson-Holzhuter-Cress Funeral Home, Stoughton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Ed's honor to the American Lung Association.
