Robert Arthur Lanham, Sr., was born on 4 August 1948. He died on 17 April 2009, at age 60, in Joliet, Will, Illinois. He was buried in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery (Section9 Site149), Elwood, Illinois.

He was a singer, songwriter, musician, and performer in many bands throughout the Joliet area.
He achieved an Art degree later in life and was an accomplished artist. He ran for the mayoral office in Gulfport, MS, where he directed, wrote and acted in numerous theatrical productions and movies.
He is survived by his mother, Lois Wescom of Ocean Springs, MS; father, Harry (Theresa) Lanham of Dallas TX; sons, James Lanham of Joliet, IL and Robert Lanham Jr., of Chicago, IL; brothers, Skip (Cindy) Lanham of Lockport, IL and Scott (Barbara) Smajd of Biloxi, MS; sisters, Sue (Bob) Dobczyk of Lockport, IL, Belinda Jo (Hank) Smajd-Tuttle of Ocean Springs, MS, Nancy (Dave) Sale, Kathy Taylor and Rosanne (Jay) Udovitsch of Winnsboro TX; he was the proud uncle of Jessica Bull, Kylie Tuttle, Heather Green, Tycey Huttenhoff, Taylor Smith, Jill Szambelan , Tom Dobczyk, Lisa Lelak, Heather Brown, Samantha Smajd, Casey Smajd, Alyssa and Alexandria Udovitsch, Brian and Ryan Udovitsch and Robbie Patterson.
He was preceded in death by sister, Cheryl (Cecil) Wright of Kaufman, TX.
Service will be held at The Maple Funeral Home, 24300 SO. Ford Road, Channahon, IL (815-467-1234) 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 21, 2009. Internment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, immediately following. Reception and celebration at Jack's Place, 1028 Cora, Joliet, IL, immediately after internment.
