Walter Lanterman Cooke was born on 28 October 1880 in Johnsonburg, Warren, New Jersey.¹ He and Bertha B. Ayers were married on 5 June 1900 in Marksboro, Warren, New Jersey.² He and Ernestine Yvonne Bouchard were married on 15 September 1951 in Peterborough, Hillsborough, New Hampshire.³ He died on 8 April 1973, at age 92, in Saint Petersburg, Pinellas, Florida.¹ He was buried in Union Cemetery, Hackettstown, Warren, New Jersey.¹

Vesta Ayers Cooke was born on 24 March 1908 in Newark, Essex, New Jersey. She and John Dewitt Budd were married on 24 February 1927. She died on 12 April 2002, at age 94, in Hackettstown, Warren, New Jersey. She was buried on 22 April 2002.

Vesta Ayers Cooke was educated Centenary College.¹ Vesta (Cooke) Budd died Friday at House of the Good Shepherd in Hackettstown. She was 94.

Born in Newark, the daughter of the late Walter L. and Bertha (Ayers) Cooke, she lived in Hackkettstown all of her life.

Mrs. Budd attended Centenary College in Hackettstown from 1923 to 1926.

She was a buyer at Cooke's Department Store in Hackettstown. The store was owned by her father who sold the business in the late 1950s.

Mrs. Budd was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hackettstown.

Her husband, J. Dewitt, died in 1994.

Survivors include two sons, John W. of Succasunna and Jerre C. of Hackettstown; one sister-in-law, Marjorie Hibler of Hackettstown; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be Monday, April 22, at 10 a.m. at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High St., Hackettstown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Hackettstown Building Fund, 296 Main St., Hackettstown, N.J. 07840.

John Dewitt Budd was born on 22 December 1906 in New Jersey.¹ He and Vesta Ayers Cooke were married on 24 February 1927. He died on 7 January 1994, at age 87.
