PONTIAC - Wilma S. Kehl, 89, Evenglow Lodge, Pontiac, died at 5:03 a.m. Wednesday (Nov. 15, 2006) after a lengthy illness.

Born Aug. 9, 1917, in Shirland, the daughter of Albert and Clara Bennett Moate. Wilma married Maurice P. Kehl on Aug. 31, 1936, in Rockford. He preceded her in death in 1990.

She graduated from Rockford Center High School, Class of 1934. "Willie" was a loving, caring and devoted mother and grandmother. She was an avid gardener and a skilled and gifted craftsperson. She also enjoyed bowling, golf and playing cards with her many friends. She embodied a kind and generous spirit to all. She was a member of Shirland Methodist Church and an active volunteer.

Survivors include daughter, Sheila (Steve) Fanning, Dwight; grandson, Michael S. (Patricia) Fanning, Austin, Texas; great-grandson, Paul M. (Allison) Fanning, Middletown, R.I.; great-granddaughter, Jennifer R. (Shain) Willison, Loves Park; and many nieces and nephews, including Juanita Miller, Loves Park, and Gene Readette, Roscoe. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Margaret Readette.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in McCorkle Funeral Home, 767 N Blackhawk Blvd., Rockton, with the Rev. Roland Harkleroad, pastor of Shirland United Methodist Church, officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded and her remains will be interred at the Shirland Township Cemetery. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday.
