Claude Arthur (Sherkie) Sherk was an Employee in John Deere.² SHERK, Claude Arthur (Sherkie) - It is with great sadness our family announces the passing of Claude Arthur Sherk (Sherkie), on Saturday October 18, 2008, while working in the sun and doing what he loved best and with his eldest son David and grandsons by his side. Claude left us to join our Lord and those of our family who have gone ahead. He was 69 years old. He leaves behind his loving wife of 30 years, Louise Laverdiere and his children, whom he adored with all his heart; Dan, David and Janice, Jim and Dawn, Julie and Brad O'Donnell, Larry and Linda, Jennifer and Ken MacSweyn. He will be greatly missed by his cherished grandchildren; Drew, Taylor (Jacqueline), Spencer, Steve, Zack, Trevor, Faith, Mandy, Mitchell, Brittany, Meagan and Kenny. Claude leaves behind his siblings Betty and Fraser McCulloch, Bill "baby of the boys" and Lenora. Also left behind is his cherished sisters-in-law Helen Sherk, Denis, Pauline, Diane, and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Claude was pre deceased by his Mother Hazel, his Father Bertie Ray, sisters Viola, Kate, Mary, Phyllis, brothers Lew and Joe and other in-laws. Claude loved nature, enjoyed feeding the birds daily, being out in the yard and fighting with the squirrels. The squirrels usually won! We will miss him teasing the cat Smoke Smoke, keeping an eye on the GiGi's and accepting defeat of his beloved Maple Leafs! Heaven knows that we will even miss those interesting stories, which he loved to tell over and over again. Claude spent 34 years at John Deere, making wonderful friends and memories up to and including his retirement. The family will receive relatives and friends at the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME 827 East Main Street Welland on Monday (today) from 7 to 9pm. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11am in the chapel of the funeral home. Cremation will follow. As expression of sympathy donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the Sherk family.
