He married Thelma L. Pearson on November 1, 1947 in Flint. Mr. Young served in the U.S. Army during World War ll and was a member of Burton Senior Citizens' Bowling League. He was employed at AC Engineering for 30 years, retiring in 1980. He was a fine craftsman who had extensive knowledge and took pride in his work. He built his first house when he was 28. He designed and built his and Gladys' current home. He enjoyed working in his barn. They traveled extensively around the U.S. after his retirement. Winton loved to rollerskate. He and Gladys skate danced with the Golden Rollers. He was in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWll in the Atlantic, Mediterranean and Pacific Theatres of war. Winton was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Gladys; daughter, Louise Peacock; son, Sidney (Melina) Peacock; grandchildren, Elliot and Christian; siblings, Teresa, Victor and Wanda (Bill); and several nieces and nephews.

One of Thelma’s favorite past times was bowling. She loved to “Run the roads”, shopping at WalMart, meeting the “girls” for breakfast at McDonald’s and lunches with her former classmates from Grand Blanc.

Surviving are two daughters, Linda (Dwight) Simpson of Harrison, Karen (Larry) Abraham of Clio; five grandchildren, Tammy (Emil) Salamey, Chris Simpson, Matt (Patty) Simpson, Larry (Michelle)Abraham and Vicki Abraham; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; special friend, Graham Hopkins; sister, Evelyn Lee and one brother, Carl Pearson;
several nieces, nephews, family and friends.
