Nelda B. McComas-Wells, age 92, of Carleton, died on Thursday, April 1, 2010 in the comfort of her home.
Friends may visit in the Arthur Bobcean Funeral Home, Carleton Chapel, on Monday, April 5, 2010 from 1 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be held in the Community of Christ Church 14601 Pennsylvania Rd., Riverview, MI. at 11:00 AM on April 6, 2010. She will lie instate from 10 AM until time of service. Pastor Gary Villeneuve will officiate the service. Burial will be in Michigan Memorial Park.
Born June 30, 1917, she was the daughter of George and Gladys (Rich) Booth. She married Maurice A. McComas on September 9, 1939 in Detroit, MI. He passed away June 22, 1960. On October 2, 1964, she married Lawrence S. Wells in Carleton, MI. He passed away March 25, 2010.
She was the Owner of Nelda?s Beauty Shop located in Carleton behind Booth?s Department Store from 1941 until retiring in 1964. Nelda played the organ for the Community Church of Christ of Carleton for 50 years and Michigan Memorial Park for 2 years. She was active in musical groups all over Michigan. When she moved to Florida, she continued to play for nursing homes, retirement centers and the KOA campground in St. James City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; 1 son, Douglas McComas; 1 daughter, Bonnie Olivera; 2 sisters, Donna Gilbert and Thais Haviland; and 1 brother, George D. Booth.
Surviving are 3 sons, Lonnie (Debi) McComas of Carleton, Dennis R. ( Madison ) McComas of Carleton and Lawrence R. (Madeline) Wells of Romulus; 4 daughters, Garnet (Leonard) Zilka of Huron Township, Shirley (William) Brewer of Ft. Meyers, FL., Loretta Wells of AZ, and Christine H. (Edward) King of Colorado Springs, CO.; brother, Richard (Pat) Booth of Lakeland, FL; 23 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 8 great great-grandchildren.
