Robert Frank Bailey was born on 4 December 1924 in Geneva, Kane, Illinois.2,3 He died on 12 May 2010, at age 85, in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah.4,3 He was buried in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin, Cook, Illinois.54
Robert Frank Bailey "Uncle Bob" Robert F. Bailey, 85, passed away in Salt Lake City, UT Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at Holladay Healthcare. He was born December 4, 1924, the son of Albert and Alice Bailey in Geneva, IL. He grew up in Elgin, IL and graduated from Elgin High in 1943. Bob served in the United States Army during WWII in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was decorated with three Overseas Service Bars, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with four Bronze Battle Stars, Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star Medal and a World War II Victory Medal. After the war, he was a liberal arts major at Westminster College in Fulton, MO and graduated in 1950. He loved sports and was a sportswriter for his high school, college and the Elgin Courier newspapers. His career was with the Army Corp of Engineers as an economist where he worked in Sacramento, CA and Nashville, TN. He retired to Elgin in 1980. Bob was an honorary member of the American Legion Post 57 for over 35 years. Golf, bowling, college basketball and his beloved Cubs were his favorite past times. He moved to Salt Lake City in 2004 to be close to his nephew and family. Survivors include his brother, Richard Bailey; and his nephew, Scott (Ramona) Bailey; and two great-nephews; and one great-niece, all of Salt Lake City. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Phyllis Bailey; and nephew, Paul Bailey. Graveside services will be at Lakewood Memorial Park in Elgin at a later date. A special thanks to Wayne and Alice Ballard family for treating Bob like family upon his arrival in Utah. Robert Frank Bailey was educated in Westminster College-Fulton, Missouri, in 1950 Liberal Arts Degree.4

Richard (Dick) Eugene Bailey was born on 23 September 1926 in Elgin, Kane, Illinois.2,3 He died on 11 January 2011, at age 84, in Murray, Coal, Oklahoma.3 He was buried in Bluff City Cemetery, Elgin, Cook, Illinois.43

Bailey, Richard Eugene "Survey Dick" Richard E. Bailey, 84, passed away in Murray, Utah, January 11, 2011 at Intermountain Medical Center. He was born September 23, 1926, the son of Albert and Alice Bailey in Elgin, Illinois. He grew up in Elgin and graduated from Elgin High in 1944. Dick served in the United States Navy during WWII aboard the USS Mt. Olympus. He held the rank of Radarman Third Class. He was decorated with American Area Campaign Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal, and a World War II Victory Medal. After the war, he went to work for W.A. Rakow and Associates for 30 plus years as a land surveyor. Later in his career he started, Richard E. Bailey and Associates where he worked in the field well into his seventies. Dick drew each plat by hand with a quill pen and ink well. He retired in Elgin in 1998. Golf, bowling, tennis and fishing were his favorite past times. A scratch golfer for several years in his youth, Dick stayed competitive for many years after. Summer vacations in Phelps, WI were memorable experiences for 20 plus years. He moved to Salt Lake City in 2005 to be close to his son and family. Survivors include his son Scott (Ramona) Bailey and two grandsons and one granddaughter, all of Salt Lake City. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Phyllis Bailey, son Paul Bailey, and his brother Robert Bailey. Graveside services will be at Bluff City Cemetery in Elgin at a later date.
