Dorothy Clare (Podunk) Ross was a Photo Publicist.
2,2 June 18, 1937 - June 2, 2013
If you happened to be up and around a little after 7am Sunday, you may have noticed a certain, sudden stillness. The early waking frogs took a break from chasing the dragonflies, who briefly stopped buzzing; ladybugs and butterflies stopped posing; and the rabbits, just for a few minutes, stopped doing what rabbits are always doing, to observe a moment of silence for the passing of their dear friend and photo publicist, Dorothy Becker.
Her animal friends were not alone in sensing a loss. The Starfish shone a little less brightly. The Divas didn't feel like going on. The Book Club were a little slower on the uptake-the Ordinary Grace they prepared to discuss lost an extraordinary exemplar.
The many benefactors of her generous and energetic spirit-too numerous to mention, and not really her style to talk about it anyway-will miss her personal, big-hearted giving. Former second and third-graders in Sauk Rapids will remember fondly their fun and silly teacher's assistant, and current third-graders will hug second-graders to comfort them.
Dorothy will be missed most of all by her family. What will Secret Society be like without its fearless leader? Who will deign to dress up like gypsies, Disney or Grimm characters, to sing like nobody's listening, to dance like nobody's watching? And will ShopKo go out of business? All this, except maybe the fate of Shopko, saddens us.
"Podunk" was preceded in leaving us by her husband "Idjit," George. She leaves behind a well-tended brood: daughter Stacy and her son George; daughter Michelle and her children Ross, Kalleah, and Elijah; daughter Corinne; son Brady, his wife Char and daughter Kirsten and husband Zach; son D.J. and his son Jack; son Kelly and his wife Debra; and four-legged friends Spritzy, Taylor, and Dado. -
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 4, from 5 to 7pm at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at 11:30am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sauk Rapids. Parish prayers will be at 5:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home in Sauk Rapids.
Donations will be forwarded to Dorothy's favorite charities. -
