Professor Calvin Charles Gillett, age 61, of Quicksand passed away Saturday September 27, 2008 at the Ky River Medical Center.

He attended the Guerrant Memorial Presbyterian Church, ROTC, and was a U.S Army II Lt., a professor at Hazard Community Technical College and was an assistant Boy Scout leader.

Survivors include his wife, Suzanne Burger Gillett of Quicksand; His parents, Charles Calvin Gillett and Margaret Corbitt Gillett; One son, Adam Gillett of Oakland CA.; One daughter, Yvonne (William) Habel of Midland Md.; His pets, Charley Foghorn and Emmy Kate; Two sisters, Mary (Donald) Bristol of Lansing Mich. and Linda (Richard) Bloomfield of Chula Vista Fl.; Two brothers, James (Renate) Gillett of Hope Mich, and Mark (Rhonda) Gillett of Burton Mich,; Mother-in-law, Edna Burger of West Hamlin, Mich.; Godson, Charles Benjamin Palmer of Coker Creek, Tn.; Special friends, M. Kay Miller, Bradley and Sherry Palmer, and Donald and Amanda Barnes.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday October 1, 2008 at the Guerrant Memorial Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Bradley palmer officiating. Burial will take place in the Jackson Cemetery with Military Rites observed at the graveside. Watts Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Additional services will be held at 7PM Tuesday September 30 at Watts Funeral Home Chapel.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Boy Scouts of America, The American Cancer Society, or the Vietnam Veterans of Kentucky.

Dawn Marie (Gillett) Kreps, 52 of Morristown, Tennessee and formerly of Midland, passed away April 06, 2008 from complications with diabetes. Dawn was born on November 04, 1955 to Charles and Margaret (Corbitt) Gillett in Midland. She resided in Midland for the majority of her life and avidly traveled the U.S. as a truck driver, in a career that she loved. Dawn retired on disability from Total Logistics Corporation (T.L.C) in 2007. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, as well as sewing, cooking, and driving.

Dawn is survived by her daughters, Kelly Dennings of Morristown, Tennessee, and Dyan (Jim) Pickard of Midland; her siblings; Jim (Renate) Gillett, of Hope, Calvin (Sue) Gillett of Quicksand, Kentucky, Mark (Rhonda) Gillett of Davidson, Linda (Richard) Bloomfield of Chula Vista, California, and Mary (Donald) Bristol of Lansing; and her sister-in-law, Dorothy Gillett of Curtis. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Vince Gillett, Steven Gillett, Erika Dale, and Odessa Bryant, as well as many nieces and nephews. Dawn was predeceased by both her parents, as well as a brother, David Gillett.
