Sadly the family announces the passing of their father George Henry Palmer of Tillsonburg formerly of Straffordville at Maple Manor Nursing Home on Sunday, January 25, 2009 age 88 years. Beloved husband of the late Evearda Palmer (nee: Luce) (2008). Dear father of Dale (Louise) Palmer of Brownsville; David (Brenda) Palmer of Vienna; Sandra (Fred) Graves of Cambridge; Darlene Edwardson of London; Marcy (Jeff) Elliott of Vanessa. Cherished and forever loved grandfather to 13 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Dorothy Deseure of Castleton, and Jane Watson of Ocala, Florida. George is also survived by sisters-in-law Verle Church of Tillsonburg, and Elsie Luce of Toledo, Ohio. George was predeceased by his parents Issac and Clytie Palmer; a grandson Marshall Elliott, and his siblings Howard Palmer; Jack Palmer; Newt Palmer; Maurice (Porky) Palmer; Jimmie Palmer; Hazel Langfield; Ethel Neville; Ruth Honsinger; Ola Gibbons; Betty Patrick; May Ford and infant sister Annie Palmer. George was a veteran of World War II and served with the Hastings Prince Edward County Regiment, a member of the Aylmer Royal Canadian Legion Branch #81, and was zone commander for Elgin County, and a long time member of Straffordville United Church. The family will receive friends and neighbours at Ostrander's Funeral Home 43 Bidwell St. Tillsonburg (519)842-5221 on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service for George will be held in Ostrander's Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, January 29, 2009 at 1 p.m. Pastor Ike Amorin officiating. Interment Straffordville Cemetery. Memorial donations (payable by cheque) may be made to Straffordville United Church Building Fund, or London Sick Children's Hospital.
