- Allan P. ?Sarge? Watts, 75, of North Mankato died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday Jan. 2 at Belgrade Avenue United Methodist Church in North Mankato. Visitation is 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday at Woodland Hills Funeral Home in Mankato and one hour before services Tuesday at the church.
North Mankato resident, Allan "Sarge" P. Watts, Sr. age 75, died Thursday, December 28, 2006 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at Belgrade Avenue United Methodist Church in North Mankato with Rev. Bart Fletcher officiating Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m., Monday at Woodland Hills Funeral Home and will continue one hour before the service at the church.
Sarge was born April 29, 1931, in Mankato to Floyd and Ruth (Mintz) Watts. He served in the U.S. Army from 1949-1970, retiring as Sergeant First Class. After his retirement from the Army he worked as a truck driver for MRCI retiring in 1996, he then worked as a greeter at Sam's Club.
Sarge was united in marriage to Rosalene Ramy on March 8, 1953. He later married June Compton on December 4, 1982 in Mankato.
He enjoyed camping, bingo calling and e-mailing. He especially loved family reunions and spending time with his family.
He was an active member of Belgrade Avenue United Methodist Church, he was also Past Governor of Mankato Moose Lodge #1414, VFW Post #950, and a member Alcoholics Anonymous for 31 years.
Sarge is survived by his wife, June of North Mankato; son, Allan Watts, Jr. (Julie) of Rochester; daughters, Adele Watts-Grefsrud (Ardean) of Cascade, ID, Annette Folkerts (Steve) of North Mankato; step-sons, Harlan Compton (Nancy) of St. Louis Park, Bill Compton (Jan) of AZ, Gordy Compton (Terri) of North Mankato, Wayne Compton (Angela) of PA; step-daughters, Sharon Hewitt (Gary) of Madison Lake, Bev Marquardt (Jerry) of St. Clair, Marcia Pugh (Howard) of Judson, Nadine Gatewood (Mike) of Fairmont; 5 grandchildren; 17 step grandchildren; 26 step great grandchildren; brothers, Robert Watts (Sharon) of AZ, Gary Watts (Judy) of Mankato, Betty Rupp (Dean) KS, Carol Palmer (Clyde) of FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and 1st wife.
Dad will be remembered for his infectious smile, laughter and great sense of humor.
