Patrick Charles Botsford
On April 15, 2010, Patrick “Pat” Botsford, our loving husband, father, son, brother and friend suddenly passed and our lives have been forever changed. Pat was born on March 17, 1959 in Buffalo, New York.
Pat is survived by his wife of 25 years, Nora, his children, Brooke, 21, Ryan, 16 and Chad, 12 all of Simi Valley, California as well as his parents, Jack and Marcia of Buffalo, New York, his brothers Mark of Syracuse, New York and Tom of Greenbay, Wisconsin and his sister, Brenda Sidari of Medina, New York as well as their spouses and families.
Pat was blessed with a large family including aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Pat was a 1977 graduate of Medina High School in New York where he was a standout player in football, basketball and baseball, and was honored as an Academic All American in each sport. Pat was also inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame at Medina High School. Pat received a football scholarship and went on to attend college at Northwood Institute in Midland, Michigan where he received his Bachelor of Business Administration in 1981.
Pat met the love of his life, Nora, at The Apple Grove in Medina, New York in December 1982 and they married on August 4, 1984 in Oakfield, New York.
Pat began his professional career with General Motors on September 16, 1982 which was the beginning of a long and fulfilling career. Pat held many sales and marketing positions with GM which took he, Nora and the kids to Los Angeles, Chicago and New York throughout their life together. He never once had a Detroit or home office assignment - a true field rat! Pat’s most recent assignment was Zone Manager for Buick and GMC, Southern California, which brought his family to Simi Valley, where his life was further enriched.
All who knew Pat, loved Pat. He was a magnet who drew people in with his kindness, generosity, great sense of humor, positive attitude and amazing spirit for life. If you met him, you wanted to be his friend. Pat was blessed with life long friendships which he cherished all over the country. Pat always said he had three families, his immediate family, his family of friends and his GM family. He loved them all and they all loved him. Pat was the “ring master” of many gatherings and events including “The Beer Can Open” in Medina. Pat enjoyed golf, skiing, hanging out in his Jacuzzi with his family and friends, playing softball and watching his children play their sports.
Although it was unknown to Pat that he was spending his last days, he spent them nonetheless as if he did know. He vacationed in Newport Beach with his family and friends, went to Opening Day at Dodger Stadium, enjoyed a fun BBQ with his work buddies and played a great softball game that evening. Each life Pat has touched has been enriched because of him.
He has coached youth basketball and soccer and kids young and old love Pat. He is missed beyond words.
