Mount Carroll - Leta A. Dickinson, 92, of Mount Carroll died Sunday, December 20, 1998 at Freeport Memorial Hospital. A daughter of Ward and Blanche (Williams) Neuschwanger, she was born Sunday, September 30, 1906 on the family farm in Freedom Township in Carroll County. On November 7, 1929 she and Donald D. Dickinson were married in Morrison. He died December 23, 1993.

After graduating from Mount Carroll High School, she attended Brown's Business College in Sterling. She and her mother operated a tea room in the family home from 1931 to 1942. She then worked at Mount Carroll National Bank until March 1969 when she and her son William purchased a department store in Mount Carroll. She retired from Dickinson's Clothing store in 1988.

She was affiliated with the First United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Naomi Circle and Methodist Women. She was a member and former treasurer of Carroll County Republican Women's Club. Her family was her first love, and she also liked to raise flowers and enjoyed baking and cooking meals for friends in need.

Surviving are one daughter, Jane D. Frank of St. Charles, Missouri; two sons, Donald R. (Cheryl) Dickinson of Aurora and William J. (Elizabeth) Dickinson of Rockford; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Arlene Grove of Oregon. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; and one sister, Lucille Frahm.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home in Mount Carroll. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery at Mount Carroll. Friends may call from 10 a.m. Monday to time of service at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Mount Carroll United Methodist Church or Mount Carroll Education Foundation.
