Mrs. Merle L. Young, 87, a lifelong resident of the Cass City area, died Friday after a long illness.

She was born March 11, 1886 in Greenleaf Township, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Gale. She was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church, Cass City. She was married to Harry Young on Feb. 19, 1920 at Flint. He died Sept. 25, 1953.

She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Dollie Goodrich, Traverse City; a niece, Mrs. William Newton; a nephew, Dwight Goodrich; and a great niece, Miss Muriel Addison, Cass City.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Little's Funeral Home, Cass City, with Rev. Ira Wood, pastor of the Salem United Methodist Church, officiating.

Harry Young Dies Friday in Cass City

Harry Young, 78, veteran retired businessman in Cass City, died Friday evening in his home after falling in his home several weeks ago.

Mr. Young was well known in Cass City business circles. He was a partner in Young and Maier Meat Market for many years before selling his interest in Feb. 1, 1941.

Before coming to Cass City, Mr. Young worked as a young man in Detroit. He was born Nov. 7, 1874 in Tillsonburg, Ont., and came to Michigan 60 years ago.

Mr. Young was a life member of the Masons.

He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Young. He married Miss Merle Gale at Flint, Feb. 19, 1920.

Surviving, besides his widow, are one brother, Eli, of St. Louis, Mo., and a grandniece, Miss Muriel Addison who lives in the Young home.

Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Douglas Funeral Home, Rev. S. R. Wurtz officiating.

Burial was in Elkland Cemetery.
