Leslie E. "Les" Seibert, 81, of Lewellen, died Sunday February 19, 2006, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, February 23, 2006, at the United Methodist Church in Lewellen, with Pastor Ray Weinerman officiating. Military honors will be conducted at the church by V.F.W. Post #5379. Cremation will follow the service. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date in the Ash Hollow Cemetery, near Lewellen. The casket will be open at the church, prior to the services for friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Les' name.

Les was born on September 17, 1924, in Laurel, Nebraska, to Harry and Garnet (Perron) Seibert. He received his education in Garden County rural schools and Lewellen High School. He joined the United States Army and served 35 months, 17 of which were spent in the European Theater during WWII. He received an honorable discharge on July 4, 1946.
On November 16, 1947, Les married Verla Jean Jenewein at the United Methodist Church in Lewellen. The couple had six children: Randy, Leslie, Beverly, Roger Dean, Vaughn and Mike, Les and Verla have had a variety of jobs. At one time, they owned and operated the Lewellen Sundries in Lewellen, Nebraska. They later moved to Greeley, Colorado where they operated a milk delivery route. In 1978, they moved to Edwards, Colorado, where the couple also had a milk delivery route. In 1988, they moved back to Lewellen, Nebraska, where they retired.
Les enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Verla of Lewellen; six children, Randy (Wilma) Selbert of Ogallala, Les (Debra) Seibert of Houston, Texas, Beverly (Jim) Curtis of Overland Park, Kansas, Roger Dean Selbert of Ogallala, Vaughn Seibert of El Paso, Texas, and Mike Seibert of North Platte; 12 grandchildren: numerous great-grandchildren; friend, Matt Hurley of North Platte; and a sister, Mildred (Alex) Lobner of Lewellen.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Stella Brenneman, Edith Stewart, Verna Stewart, Carol Seibert; and brothers, Jack and George Seibert.
