Leslie E. "Les" Seibert, 81, of Lewellen, died Sunday February 19, 2006, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, February 23, 2006, at the United Methodist Church in Lewellen, with Pastor Ray Weinerman officiating. Military honors will be conducted at the church by V.F.W. Post #5379. Cremation will follow the service. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date in the Ash Hollow Cemetery, near Lewellen. The casket will be open at the church, prior to the services for friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Les' name.

Holechek Funeral Home in Oshkosh is in charge of arrangements.

Les was born on September 17, 1924, in Laurel, Nebraska, to Harry and Garnet (Perron) Seibert. He received his education in Garden County rural schools and Lewellen High School. He joined the United States Army and served 35 months, 17 of which were spent in the European Theater during WWII. He received an honorable discharge on July 4, 1946.

On November 16, 1947, Les married Verla Jean Jenewein at the United Methodist Church in Lewellen. The couple had six children: Randy, Leslie, Beverly, Roger Dean, Vaughn and Mike, Les and Verla have had a variety of jobs. At one time, they owned and operated the Lewellen Sundries in Lewellen, Nebraska. They later moved to Greeley, Colorado where they operated a milk delivery route. In 1978, they moved to Edwards, Colorado, where the couple also had a milk delivery route. In 1988, they moved back to Lewellen, Nebraska, where they retired.

Les enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Verla of Lewellen; six children, Randy (Wilma) Selbert of Ogallala, Les (Debra) Seibert of Houston, Texas, Beverly (Jim) Curtis of Overland Park, Kansas, Roger Dean Selbert of Ogallala, Vaughn Seibert of El Paso, Texas, and Mike Seibert of North Platte; 12 grandchildren: numerous great-grandchildren; friend, Matt Hurley of North Platte; and a sister, Mildred (Alex) Lobner of Lewellen.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Stella Brenneman, Edith Stewart, Verna Stewart, Carol Seibert; and brothers, Jack and George Seibert.

Carol Ann Seibert was born 4 miles north of Lewellen, February 6, 1934, and departed this life March 28, 1935, at the age of 1 year, 1 month and 22 days.

She leaves to mourn her loss, her father and mother [editor: Harry J. and Garnet H. (Perron) Siebert], four sisters and three brothers, other relatives and a host of little friends that will miss her smile and the sunshine she made in her home.

Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon from the Methodist church in Lewellen, Rev. Smith delivering the sermon and the little body was laid to rest in the Ash Hollow cemetery. I. W. Wright of this city had charge of arrangements.

Verla Jean Seibert, 83, passed away Monday, June 25, 2012 at Olathe medical center in Olathe, Kansas. Memorial services were held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Pathway Church in Prairie Village, KS. Pastor Bob Jarred officiating.

At her request Verla was cremated and inurnment will be held at a later date in the Ash Hollow Cemetery, near Lewellen.

Verla was born May 11, 1929 in Lewellen. To Wilbur and Anna Jenewein. She received her education in the Lewellen school district.

On November 16, 1947, Verla married Leslie E. Seibert in the Methodist church in Lewellen. Together they own and operate at the well and sundries, before they moved to Greeley, CO, where they operated a Bread business.

In 1964, they moved to Sydney, Nebraska, where they owned and operated Seibert Milk Co. In 1978 they moved to Edwards, CO, where the couple also operated a milk delivery route before retiring to Lewellen in 1988.

After the death of Leslie in 2006, Verla moved to Olathe, Kansas, where she resided with her daughter Beverly.

She is survived by her daughter Beverly (Jim) Curtis, Olathe, Kansas; sons, Randy (Wilma) Ogallala, Les (Debra) The Woodlands, Texas, Roger Dean, Thompkinsville, Kentucky, Vaughn, Olathe, KS, 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Leslie Earl in 2006, and her son, Michael Scott, 2011.

Memorials may be made to Pathway Church c/o Beverly Curtis, 309 N. Normandy, Olathe, KS, 66061. A donation will then be made in her memory to Pathway Church, Prairie Village, Kansas.
