Grover Cleveland (G. C.) Houston, Jr., was born on 16 August 1917 in Sherman, Grayson, Texas.1 He died on 11 March 1993, at age 75, in Clovis, Curry, New Mexico.1 He was buried in Texico Cemetery (Block 8, Lot 94A), Texico, Curry, New Mexico.1

Services for G. C. Houston, 76, Clovis, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Prince Street Baptist Church in Clovis. The Rev. Wayne Boydston will officiate.

Burial will be at Texico Cemetery. Steed-Todd Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Houston died Thursday, March 11, at High Plains Nursing Home. He was born Aug. 15, 1917, in Sherman, Texas. When he was 2 years old, he moved to the Farwell and Texico area where he became a lifelong resident. He was a meat cutter for a packing plant and a member of the Prince Street Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Millie Jo Houston, of the home in Clovis; two sons, Cleveland Houston, Vista, Calif., and Robert Houston, Grady; two daughters, Ila Mae Carby, Stanton, Texas, and Louise Davis, Clovis; two brothers, Clyde Houston and Jack Houston, both of Clovis; and three grandsons.

Casket bearers will be his nephews and grandsons.
