Donna Jean Tallmadge, 77, of Fort Gratiot, died Saturday, September 3, 2011. She was born April 5, 1934 in Port Huron to the late Marion Mae Doan and was a lifelong area resident. She married Charles L. Tallmadge on October 2, 1959 in Port Huron. He died on August 3, 1996. Donna was a librarian with the St. Clair County Library System for over 30 years before her retirement, and remained active afterwards through the Friends of the Library. She was a longtime member of St. John's United Church of Christ and belonged to the Mary Martha Guild and the J.O.Y. Club at the church. She was also a proud member of the Red Hat Society and several local card clubs, and was a volunteer with the Port Huron Museum. Even after her husband's death, Donna remained active in the Acheson Colloids 25-year club that he belonged to. Donna loved working in her flower gardens, watching the birds, and following sports, both the local and Detroit teams. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many. She is survived by a daughter, Debra (Dr. Gregory) Teraikian of Fort Gratiot; a son, Curtis (Ann) Tallmadge of Fort Gratiot; three grandsons, Chad (Jessica) Rich, Curtis Tallmadge II, and Andrew Adolph; four step-grandsons, Stephen, Ryan, Alexander and Zachary Teraikian; a brother, Dan (Ila) Hoetger of Smiths Creek; a sister, Lynn (David) Lloyd of Port Huron; brothers-in-law, Don Tallmadge and Keith (Joyce) Tallmadge, all of Port Huron; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; a very special friend, Yvonne Welch; and her "grand-dogs", Buddy and Buddy. She was preceded in death by her sisters-in-law, Lillian Thorne and Donna Tallmadge. Visitation will be from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Reverend William B. Terry will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Fort Gratiot. Pallbearers will be Jim Potts, Chad Rich, Mike Welch, John Thorne, and Scott and Don Tallmadge. Memorials may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ or the Port Huron Museum. When we all meet again we will understand God's plan.
