FRED R. MATHENEY

Fred R. Matheney, 54, of Malta died at 12:45 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 15) at Bethesda Hospital where he had been a patient 81 days.

He was born Jan. 18, 1913, at Deavertown, a son of Chalmer and Nellie Milligan Matheney.

Mr. Matheney was an iron worker for Scott and Campbell Company of New York, a member of Deavertown Methodist Church and Valley Chapter 145, F.& A.M. In World War II he served in the South Pacific.

He is survived by his widow, the former June Karr, whom he married Feb. 14, 1945; two daughters, Mrs. Pamela Shreve of Lexington, Ky. and Miss Kathie Matheney of the home; two sons, Jack F. Matheney of McConnelsville and William D. Matheney of Malta Route 1; four grandchildren; his mother, of Dayton; two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Moran and Mrs. Nellie Sprouse, both of Dayton; a brother, Floyd, of Dayton.

Friends may call at Fisher Funeral Home at McConnelsville 7 to 9 p.m. today and after 2 p.m. Friday. Masonic services will be held at 8 p.m. Friday.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Harry J. Young officiating. Burial will be in Deavertown Cemetery where military services will be held.

It was our privilege and honor to be able to call her mother and grandmother she loved by all. Matheney, Martha L., age 86 of Centerville and formerly of Epworth Ave. in Dayton, passed away Monday, October 3, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd "Mike" Matheney in 1992. She was also preceded by her parents, Roy and Luella Frawley, a son, Mike Matheney and three sisters and a brother-in-law: Eileen Frawley, Lillian Jones and Patricia Bunger and husband Bud. She is survived by three sons: John and wife Linda Matheney, Scott and wife Pam Matheney and Toby Matheney, as well as a daughter-in-law, Liz Matheney. Eight grandchildren also survive her: Angela (Shawn) Robinson, Tricia (Chris) Ortiz and Brian, David, Matthew (Andrea), Patrick, Christopher and Thomas Matheney, as do seven great-grandchildren: Olivia, Andrew, Justice, Sumus, Rayna, Hunter and Beck and her special niece, Mikki White, nephews Dan Gross and Martin Jones and her best friend Mabel Chromey. Martha was a very family oriented woman and a sweet, loving and supportive mother and grandmother. She was a longstanding member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and a cancer survivor for many years; she also was a long time volunteer at the American Cancer Society Thrift Store in Riverside, OH. Friends may call at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME- Belmont Chapel, 648 Watervliet Ave. on Friday evening, October 7 from 5 PM until 8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Chris Coleman at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 830 Bowen St. at 9:30 AM Saturday, October 8, 2011. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to either Crossroads Hospice or St Anthony Catholic Church in Martha's memory.

MATHENEY, Michael Roy Michael Roy Matheney, of Dayton, who was an avid fisherman, a member of the Milton Athletic Club and the Delco/Delphi 25 Year Club, died Friday, February 9, 2007. He was 58. Mike was a retired machine repairman at Delco/Delphi after 36 years of service. He refounded the Lohrey Center Camera Club, was an active genealogist and with his wife, supported the Worldwide Marriage Encounter since 1979. He was preceded in death by his father: Floyd 'Mike' Matheney. Mike was the husband of Elizabeth 'Liz' (nee Bereda) for over 36 years; the son of: Martha (nee Frawley) Matheney; the father of Angi and husband, CW3 Shawn P. Robinson; and also Brian and David Matheney; the brother and brother-in-law of: John and Linda, Scott and Pam and Toby and Debra Matheney; the grandfather of Olivia Robinson and the uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be in Saint Anthony Catholic Church on Monday, February 12th at 11 AM. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Visitations will be on Sunday from 2 to 5 PM at HARRIS FUNERAL HOME, 49 Linden Avenue, Dayton (937) 253-3129 and from 10 to 11 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, an expression of sympathy may be made in Mike's honor to the Saint Anthony Church Saint Vincent de Paul Society, 820 Bowen Street, Dayton 45410. May his soul rest in peace.
