Dennis C. Strawn, 69, a former Belvidere resident, died Friday, March 16, 2007, in UCLA Medical Center, Los Angeles. He was born March 31, 1937, in Monroe Center, the son of Henry "Bud" and Banieta "Peg" Joslin Strawn. Graduated from Kirkland High School in 1955, and married Donna Little-john on June 15, 1956. While living in Illinois, he worked for Rockford Life Insurance and Zenith Cutter, and he and Donna also operated Rive Road Greenhouse. While living in California he was a programmer for Garrett Air Research. Dennis loved playing golf, especially with his grandsons. He is survived by his wife, Donna of Stanton, Calif.; daughters, Belinda (Jim) Hartson of Lancaster, Calif.; and Gay (Paul) Farris of Garden Grove, Calif.; grandchildren, Jason and Jonathan Hartson of Lancaster, and Matthew and Nicole Farris of Garden Grove; great-grandchildren, Jason, Dylan and Austin Hartson. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 24, in the Chapel of Memories in Highland Garden of Memories, 9700 IL Route 76, Belvidere, with the Rev. William R. Kerr Sr., officiating; also visitation from 10 a.m. to service time. Interment in Highland Garden of Memories. As Dennis was a lung transplant recipient, any donations to the American Lung Association would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements by Highland Memorial Funeral Home Inc.
