2 Billie Joe Chapman, 82, of Bowling Green, died at his home February 5, 2012. The Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green is providing the arrangements for Mr. Chapman with visitation Wednesday evening February 8, from 4-8 pm. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday morning, February 9, with Rev. Don Amelung and Rev. Stephen Loeffler at the Second Baptist Church with burial at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Bowling Green.
Bill was born May 3, 1929 in Marshfield, MO., the son of Crayton and Laura Patty Chapman. September 30, 1948 he married Doris Rader, who survives. Bill and Doris have two children a daughter Susan, wife of Jerry Gamm of Bowling Green, and their son Marty Chapman and his wife Debbie of Mercer, MO. Also surviving Mr. Chapman is his sister Betty Chapman, of Springfield, MO. and a sister-in-law Rita Junger and Husband John of Rader, Mo.
Also surviving are four grandchildren, Stephanie wife of Brock Bailey of Curryville, MO., Tim Gamm of Bowling Green, Lee Anne Chapman of Dacula, GA., and Jenny wife of Tony Fowler also of Dacula, Ga. Papa Papa Chapman also enjoyed and spoiled, six great-grandchildren, Austin, Micah, and Elise Bailey, Noah and Avery Gamm and J. B. Fowler.
Bill worked in the cheese processing, and milk marketing industry, for over 50 years. The companies he worked for included, Sugar Creek and Kraft, in Springfield, Mo. and Batesville, Arkansas. He and his wife owned and operated the Bowling Green Cheese Company for several years. Bill also managed the Clearfield Cheese Co. Clinton, Mo. and Producers Creamery in Kirksville, Mo. before finishing his career as a fieldman for Mid-American Dairymen in 1996.
Mr. Chapman was an active member of the Second Baptist Church in Bowling Green, serving as a deacon there for several years. He enjoyed owning and backgrounding a few black cattle in his retirement. Bill was a devoted husband to his wife Doris for 63 years.
Serving as pallbearers will be Brock, Austin and Micah Bailey, Tim and Noah Gamm and Tony Fowler. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Second Baptist Church.
