He was born June 21, 1943 to Ralph A. and Jean L. (Moulton) Mahan. He married Carol A. Finstron on April 18, 1964 in Cadillac.
Mr. Mahan was a graduate of General Motor Institute in Flint and then an engineer at Pilot Tool & Die Inc. in Reed City. Throughout his career, he had also been employed by AC Sparkplug in Flint, Westinghouse Electric in Pittsburgh, Pa, and Cooper Industries in Cannonsburg, Pa.
Mr. Mahan and his family served as missionaries for New Tribes Missions for three years in Venezuela. He was a member of Temple Hill Baptist Church in Cadillac for many years and attended Tustin First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Carol A. Mahan of Marion; son, Robert (Lori) Mahan of St. Petersburg, Fla.; daughters, Alice Mahan of Marion and Rebecca Mahan of Marion, who is currently attending Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
