Glen Eugene Cornwell
Birth: Oct. 26, 1934
Death: Jan. 4, 2015
--------------------
He was born on October 26, 1934 to Frank and Edna (Ridpath) Cornwell in Independence, Iowa. He attended public school in Independence, Iowa.
Glen was united in marriage to Marge Bare, and to this union they shared three children, Mary, Nancy, and Fred. They later divorced. Glen married Susan Constant, and to this union they shared three children together, Melissa, Terry, and Tony.
Glen worked for Rockwell Collins and for Quaker Oats, both in Cedar Rapids, Iowa until he bought his first farm north of Winthrop, Iowa. Farming was always a dream for Glen and he took much pride and joy in doing so. Along with crop farming, Glen also raised beef cattle, hogs, milked dairy goats and finally milked Jersey cows. In 1992 Glen moved his family from Winthrop, Iowa to a small dairy farm near Eastman, Wisconsin. He continued to milk Jerseys until he retired in 1996 and moved to Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin and a few years later made his final move to Bagley, Wisconsin near the mighty Mississippi River.
Glen enjoyed camping, telling stories and maybe even a few tall tales. He definitely had a gift to gab, something his children and grandchildren have inherited very well. How lucky they are to carry on in his footsteps, the many stories he shared with friends and family over the years. He enjoyed going for drives, whether it be to check on crops (both his and the neighbors), livestock, or just to go for a drive along the river. He lived every day enjoying the small things in life that many people never notice. Glen also was known to enjoy an occasional football game or a High School Wrestling Tournament every now and then when he had time. On a warm summer day it was not uncommon to find Glen sitting in the shade admiring one of his greatest prized possessions, his climbing rose bush in front of his home. Of all the enjoyments Glen had in his life, his grandchildren and family were what he loved most in life. Memories of Glen will live forever through his family.
Glen was preceded in death by a son in infancy, Glen Louis Cornwell, his parents, and a brother Ronald Cornwell.
