James Elmer Shofkom, 83, of Apex, Hancock, NY, died at Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at home. He was born on April 11, 1933 in Lanesboro, PA, the so of Clarence and Theresa (Hallstead) Shofkom.

Elmer married June Laraway on February 19, 1955 in Binghamton, NY. He was a truck driver for many years. His family was the most important thing in his life.

Surviving are his wife, June, 3 children, Mark and wife Deborah, James and wife Alison, and Thomas, 4 grandchildren, Shawna, Jennifer, Michael, and Brian, and 3 great grandchildren, Valerie, Nolan, and Piper. He is also survived by 3 sisters, Sadie Williams, Janet Grace, and Bonnie Shofkom, 1 brother, Gary Shofkom, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Elmer was predeceased by 6 siblings, Valeda, Irene, Elizabeth, Paul, Delbert, and Beatrice.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, June 26, 2016 from 4-6PM at the Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 27, 2016, at 11AM, also at the funeral chapel, with Don Crossman officiating. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Hancock. Paul E. Shofkom, 67, Susquehanna, PA, passed away suddenly on Thursday, My 22, 2003 at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Joann M. Shofkom; three c hildren, Deborah and Thomas Brown, Conklin, NY, Carl Shofkom and close f riend Kathy Szilagyi, Lancaster, PA, Paula and Robert Fiske, Susquehann a; seven grandchildren, Darrell, Amanda, Kevin, Nikki, Derick, Tiffany a nd Alexis; one great-grandchild, Joshua; three brothers and a sister-in -law, James (Elmer) and June, Delbert, and Gary; three sisters, Irene, Sadie, Bonnie; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Paul was retired from Mapes Moving and Storage, Inc. of Vestal, for 32 years and was a veteran of the US Air Force.

Dad was a true Yankees fan, he loved fishing, his garden and spending time with his family. He was our "rock" and made us who we are today. He w as loved and respected by many and will be sadly missed by those who knew him. Rest in peace dear daddy, we love you very much.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2003 at 3:00 p.m., at the Lanesboro Community Church, Lanesboro, PA, with the Rev. Carl Bat zel officiating. Burial will be in the Thompson Cemetery, Thompson, PA, with full military honors being performed. The family will receive friends at the Lanesboro Community Church from 2 to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
