Rovona Marie Steele was born on 3 March 1928 in Washington, Washington, Iowa.1,2 She and Orval Lamonte Miller were married on 1 June 1950 in Nashua, Chickasaw, Iowa, Little Brown Church.3 She died on 3 September 2013, at age 85, in Wellman, Washington, Iowa.2 She was buried in Sharon Hill Cemetery, Kalona, Washington, Iowa.2
Rovona Marie Steele was a Teacher.3 A celebration of life for Rovona M. Miller, 85, of Wellman will be held Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 2:00PM at the Sharon Center United Methodist Church in rural Kalona, with Pastor Doug Cue officiating. Burial will follow at the Sharon Hill Cemetery in Kalona. Visitation will be held Friday, September 6, 2013 from 4 - 7 PM at the Sharon Center United Methodist Church. Rovona Miller died Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Parkview Manor following a brief illness. Peterseim Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Rovona Marie (Steele) Miller was born March 3, 1928 near Washington, Iowa the daughter of Carl and Lola (Swails) Steele. She graduated from Columbus Junction High School in 1946 and attended Iowa Wesleyan College that summer. In the fall of that year she began teaching in a one room school house. On June 1, 1950 she was united in marriage to Orval L. Miller at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa, and she continued teaching until the twins were born. In 1961 the family moved to Phoenix, Arizona where Rovona taught three year olds at Paradise Valley Day School. After returning to Iowa, Rovona and Orval worked the family farm and Rovona was a busy farmer's wife and mother. Rovona sold Home Interior products, worked at Owens Brush and later at the University of Iowa Business Office for 17 years before retirement. Rovona was a member of the Sharon Center United Methodist Church, the Cowbells, and was a past president and vice president of the Johnson County Farm Bureau. Family was always important to Rovona and she enjoyed taking pictures and attending anything involving her family.

Survivors include four children; Eldon Miller of Kalona, IA, Sheldon Miller of Colorado Springs, CO, Maureen (Richard) Clark of Warrensburg, MO, and Lionel (Deb) Miller of Cedar Rapids, IA, three grandchildren; Daniel, Jason and Amanda, one brother; Darris Steele of Phoenix, AZ, and two sisters; Roberta Parks of Iowa City and Maralee (John) Dyson of Iowa City.

Preceding Rovona in death were her parents and her husband Orval on March 31, 2013.

Orval Lamonte Miller was born on 16 October 1926 in Washington Township, Johnson, Iowa. He and Rovona Marie Steele were married on 1 June 1950 in Nashua, Chickasaw, Iowa, Little Brown Church.1 He died on 31 March 2013, at age 86.1 He was buried in Sharon Hill Cemetery, Kalona, Washington, Iowa.
Celebration of Life services for Orval L. Miller, 86, of rural Wellman are Wednesday, April 3, 2013, 10:00 a.m. at the Sharon Center United Methodist Church, rural Kalona. Pastor Doug Cue will officiate. Burial will be in the Sharon Hill Cemetery, Kalona. Visitation is Tuesday, April 2 at the Peterseim Funeral Home, Kalona from 4 to 8 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for Iowa City Hospice or the Sharon Center United Methodist Church.

Orval L. Miller died Sunday, March 31 at Parkview Manor, Wellman following a 11 year battle with bladder cancer.

Orval L. Miller was born Oct. 16, 1926 in Johnson County, the son of Melvin F. and Mary Yoder Miller. He attended Center High School.

Orval was united in marriage to Rovona Steel on June 1, 1950 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.

Orval was an active member of many organization that include; Director of Johnson County Extension Council, F. H. A Committeeman, Johnson County Cattelman Association, Iowa State Cattleman's Association and fund rasier, Washington Township School Board, State Certifed Election official for over 50 years, Wellman Coopertative Telephone Asscociation since 1980 and was currently serving, the Iowa City Senior Center Choir, and the Sharon Center United Methodist Church.

Orval loved music and entertained with his guitar at many rest homes in the area.

Orval is survived by his wife Rovona, four children, Eldon J. Miller of Kalona, Sheldon Miller of Colorado Springs, CO., Maureen Clark (Richard) of Warrensburg, MO., and Lionel D. Miller (Debbie) of Cedar Rapids, Also surviving are three grandchildren Daniel, Jason and Amanda.

Orval was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Cecil, and one sister, Helen Yoder.
