Oscar Evan Shackelton was born on 12 March 1907 in Walnut, Crawford, Kansas.1 He and Hazel Eiline Shepeard were married in June 1934.2 He died on 28 August 1986, at age 79, in Sebring, Highlands, Florida.1 He was buried in Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Avon Park, HIghlands, Florida.2
Oscar Evan Shackelton was in Southwestern Bell Telephone Company.2,3 Oscar Evan Shackelton, 79, of Sebring, died Aug. 29 at Walker Memorial Hospital. A native of Kansas, he retired fro Southwest Bell Telephone. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Sebring. He wintered here for 13 years, moving to Sebring Hills a year ago. He is survived by his wife, Bernice Clara; sons, Johns Dee and George Lee Shackelton; daughter. Dr. Kay Eilene Ticen; sister, Esther St. John; amd seven grandchildren. The family will receive friends Monday from 7-9 p.m. at their home, 237 Rail Ave., Sebring Hills. Viewing at Fountain Funeral Home will be from 4-9 p.m. Monday. Funderal services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Fountain Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Wayne Johnson and the Rev. George J. Lynch officiating. Interment will follow in Rougainvillea Cemetery. Fountain Funeral Home is in charge of arangements.

Mrs. Hazel Isobel Shackelton, 32, Pittsburg, died last night at 6:45 o'clock at the Mt. Carmel hospital after three weeks illness. She had been in failing health for several months. Mrs. Shackelton was employed in the Business office of the college for a number of years. Faculty members will remember he as Miss Hazel Shepeard. Mrs. Shackelton was born Jan. 5, 1908, at Webb City, Mo. She came to Pittsburg from Webb City and lived her for 18 uears. She was a member of the First Baptist church. Survivors are the widower, Oscar E. Shackelton, two small sons and one daughter, the parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. D. Shepeard, two brothers, Dr. Walter L. Shepeard of Albany, N. Y., K.S.T.C. alumnus, and Carl D. Shepeard, and one sister, Mrs. Raymond Park. Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church this afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. Clyde J. Askins in charge.
