Biography

Walter Francis Miner was born on 8 June 1917 in Sugan Hollow, Wyoming, Pennsylvania.1 He and Dorothy Adelia Wintermute were married on 25 November 1939 in Mehoopany, Wyoming, Pennsylvania. He died on 21 September 2010, at age 93. He was buried in Forkston Cemetery, Forkston, Wyoming, Pennsylvania.11

Walter F. Miner, of Benson Hollow Lane, Tunkhannock, died on Tuesday, September 21, 2010, in the Asera Care Hospice Unit at the Mid-Valley Hospital in Peckville, Pa. He was born in Sugar Hollow, Wyoming County, on June 8, 1917, a son of the late Alpheus Miner and Edna Allshouse Miner Sands. Walter was a graduate of Tunkhannock High School and a U.S. Navy Veteran. He was the owner of Walter Miner Trucking and Hay Service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Wintermute Miner; brother, Alpheus Miner; step-brother, Clifford Sands; and half-brother Howard Sands. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Bonnie Miner, of Tunkhannock; daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Wayne Short, of Carthage, N.C.; half-sister, Charlotte Hadsall; and step-sister, Dorothy Mickley, both of Tunkhannock; as well as three grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home Inc., 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, with the Pastor Brian Williams, of the Osterhout Bible Church, officiating. Interment will be held in the Forkston Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wyoming County Cancer Society , P.O.
