4 Martin Meyer, son of Jacob and Mary Meyer,
was born in Zurich; Switzerland, November
30, I860. He came to America when 18 years
of age and made his home with a sister in
Ohio, where he farmed for a number of
years, He later went to Illinois, where
he worked as a brick worker and later
came to Michigan, where he bought a farm
near Reese, clearing it of its timber and
building his homo. He married Minnie
Schradcr, in November 1895. To them were
born five children, Mrs. Hulda Smith, of
Mayvilie; Mrs. Emma Kimmery and Mrs.
Amelia Getty, of Flint; and Mrs. Louise
Vandorlip, of Saginaw. One son died in
infancy. On June 21, 1910, he married
Anna Snover, of Mayville. To this union
was born three children, Herman Meyer,
of Fostoria; Mrs. Ida Davies of Flint and
Frederic Meyer who it serving with
armed forces in Italy. He died at his
late home in Mayville, June 1, 1, 1944,
at the age of 78 years,
Leaves his wife and children, one sister,
Mrs. Bertha Hall, of Los Angeles, Calif,
16 grandchildren, three great grandchildren
and manyfriends to mourn his death.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon
at Blackmore and Tubbs chapel, Rev. J. B.
McMinn officiating with burial in Rich cemetery. Martin Meyer immigrated in 1884.
