Mr. Russell Stanley Ferguson, dairy and fruit farmer of New Milford, died in his sleep early this morning, April 26th. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. O.W. Ferguson.
Born in St. Louis, Mo., January 30, 1881, he graduated from the Manuel Training School there, the Bliss Electrical school in Washington, D.C., and studied Civil Engineering at Iowa State College.
He worked for two years as a Civil engineer for the U.S. Government, coming to New Milford in 1900. In 1907 he married Francis Slaughter, daughter of Mr. Frank Slaughter and the late Mrs. Slaughter. Since that time they have resided on their fruit and dairy farm in New Milford.
He is survived by his wife, Frances; a daughter, Marie; a son, Russell Stanley, Jr.; one granddaughter, Mary Sylvia Shear of San Diego, California, and a niece, Frances Lawrence Strowger. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of Warwick and Warwick Lodge No. 544, F. & A.M.
Masonic funeral services will be held from his home at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon, with the Rev. Oliver Carberry conducting services. Burial will be in the family plot in Warwick Cemetery.

WARWICK - Funeral servises for Mrs. Bess Ferguson Shear, who died at her home in San Diego, Cal., last week, were held yesterday afternoon at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Ferguson, at New Milford, with the Rev. Taber Knox officiating. Mrs. Shear left an infant daughter.
Mrs. Ferguson flew out to San Diego last week Tuesday on receipt of a telegram that her daughter had died. She and her son-in-law, Walter Shear, accompanied the body here by train, arriving in New York Monday.
Pallbearers were John Rioch, of Amity; Vertney R. Baildon, J. Mack Bristow, and Douglas Stidworthy, of Warwick; Gerold Layton, of Pine Island, and Gilbert Ryerson, of New Milford. Interment was in Warwick cemetery.

The daughter of the late Joseph and Edna Baker Behnke, she was born Oct. 13, 1926 in Bloomingburg. Mrs Ferguson was a member of the Perennial Plant Association.

Survivors include her husband, Stanley R. Ferguson, at home; three daughters, Meredith Ferguson of Auburn, Maine, Donna Bars of New Milford, and Cheryl Planson of Warwick; one son, Russell Ferguson of Warwick; two brothers, Edson Behnke of Bloomsburg, Pa., and Calvin Behnke of Otego; five grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. today at the Lazear-Smith Funeral Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the New Milford Methodist Church, New Milford. The Rev. Duncan Trueman will officiate.

Burial will be in Warwick Cemetery, Warwick.

Memorial contributions may be made to the New Milford Methodist Church, New Milford.
