James (Jim) Hays, Jr., was born on 25 July 1922 in Chicago, Cook, Illinois.1,2 He died on 27 August 2011, at age 89, in Kewanee, Henry, Illinois.2 He was buried in Galva Cemetery, Knox County, Illinois.23,2
James (Jim) Hays, Jr., was an Auto Mechanic.3 James "Jim" Hays, 89, of Kewanee, passed away at 5:20 PM, Saturday, August 27, 2011 at Royal Oaks Health Care Center in Kewanee.

Funeral services will by held at 11:00 AM, Friday, September 2 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Pastor Cheyanna Losey will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Galva Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by the Galva Fusiliers. Memorials may be directed to the Henry County Humane Society.

Jim was born July 25, 1922 in Chicago, the son of James and Bertha (Wintermute) Hays, Sr. When he was an infant his father passed away and his mother then married Morris Stephens who became his loving father. He married Edith Marie Anderson on October 24, 1942 at Pilgram Congregational Church in Oak Park, IL. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, daughters, Susan E. (Larry) Baysingar of Woodhull and Helen B. Hays of Aurora, CO, a granddaughter, Deborah L. Kelly and two grandsons, Alex and Ryan Vickers, all of Silvis and a niece Nancy Harris of St. Mary's Square in Galesburg. He was preceded in death by his parents. He attended school in Berwyn, IL. He was a WWll veteran, serving in the Pacific with the US Army 1st Calvary where he was awarded several service medals. Jim was an auto mechanic by trade and worked for various businesses throughout his life. He was a life time member of the Mineral American Legion.
